Snow - shock horror

Once again, the country has large swathes where nothing moves due to a couple of inches of snow. We knew it was coming. It has been here before. Again, the same disruption when it settled. We are not talking blizzard conditions or wind having caused deep drifts. Amazing. With all the devotion we afford to new technology, we still cannot deal with what happens in winter. Flooding is the same. Heatwaves still kill off old people.

Insofar as we here in Scotland are concerned, we demonstrate that it does not have to be quite as bad as England is reported. I went out to get the papers about 7 this morning. There was about 2 inches of snow quite crisp. However, all the pavements had been swept by the little gritter sort of machine that we have and there was no threat to my normal wear shoes. The roads had been gritted. I saw snow ploughs coming back in to the depot so it seems the rural roads had been dealt with. I felt a certain smugness.
